Terms and Conditions
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ~ PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Parent or Guardian must read this information if student is under 18 years of age

Canterbury Language College (Australasia) Limited has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at http://www.minedu.govt.nz

Cancellations, withdrawals and refunds
Any student whose course is more than 2 days long is entitled to refunds as follows:
If a student (a) not being in New Zealand, is refused a visa, or cancels his/her course OR
(b) being in New Zealand, cancels not less than two weeks before the course start date, fees will be returned to the student’s agent, minus a $250.00 administration fee.
(2) Course length up to 4 weeks and 6 days
If student cancels within the first three days of the course, a refund of not less than 50% of the total course fees
(3) Course length of 5 weeks or more, but less than 3 months
If student cancels within the first six days of the course, a refund of not less than 75% of the total course fees
(4) Course length of three months or more
If student cancels within the first eight days of the course, a refund of not less than 90% of the total course fees
All courses
# Costs of services provided, which are not included in the prepaid fees, may be deducted from the refunded amounts. In the event of a need for clarification, the refund guidelines issued from the NZQA, which apply to the time at which the cancellation was made, will be authoritative.
# A refund of tuition fees, less expenses, will be paid to the student, if aged over 18 years, otherwise payment will be to the student’s parents.
# Payment of all monies to CLCA will be made by the Trustee of the Student Trust Fund Account, monthly in arrears.
# Students under 18 must obtain written permission from their parents to withdraw from their chosen course.
# No refunds will be made to students who are asked to leave CLCA because of misbehaviour, poor attendance or violation of CLCA rules.
# Except at the discretion of management, no refunds will be made to students for any other reason.
# Requests involving, for example, the serious illness or death of the student, parent, sibling, spouse or child in the immediate family will always be considered.
# In order to avoid delays in refund payment, students must apply in writing to the Financial Director, stating their reasons for withdrawing from CLCA
# CLCA must inform the New Zealand Immigration Service that the student is no longer studying at CLCA.
# All refunds are made in NZ dollars. CLCA is not responsible for any changes in the value of currencies or for students’ bank fees.

Insurance All students are required to have insurance cover for travel, illness, accident and loss of personal possessions during the time spent in New Zealand.

Students less than 18 years old are enrolled subject to the following conditions:
1. They must have a guardian, approved by the school, for the duration of their course.
2. They must have travel, medical and personal insurance cover (see note above).
3. They must live with a New Zealand host family approved by the school.
4. They must not own or drive a motor vehicle.

Visas Every assistance will be given students to enable them to obtain a suitable visa before arriving in New Zealand, however, it is the student's responsibility to ensure that the requirements of the immigration authorities are complied with. Further information can me obtained from the New Zeaalnd Immigration Service Website at www.immigration.govt.nz

Accommodation The school offers a comprehensive homestay service. Other options are available through various accommodation service providers, further information is available on request.

On arrival in Christchurch Your host family will meet you at the Airport when you arrive.

Location The school Reception Desk is located at Level 3, AXA Centre, 156 Hereford Street, Christchurch.

Fees Course Fees cover the cost of tuition, course materials (including photocopying), administration and assessments. You will need approximately NZ$10 per month for stationery, and between NZ$15 to NZ$45 for a dictionary.
